As we move through 2012, I can’t help but believe we are living in the Apocalypse in it’s truest sense. As we’ve said on Truth Frequency time and time again, the literal translation from Greek is: “The Great Revealing”. The veils are truly being lifted with the mainstream media losing control and the alternative media paradigm being exposed as the corrupted and failing trap set up to ensnare the ones who awaken from the slumber of propaganda. We are living in the truest meaning of “end times” but the world which is being destroyed is not the external world, it is the world inside each and every one of us. And once the smoke clears, a new world is forming within us as we transcend into the next level of awareness.

The wheat is definitely being separated from the chaff and the ones left standing are the ones with the purest of hearts who have no vested interest in anything other than the truth. For a moment there, when I discovered the alternative media was even more corrupt and even more infiltrated than the mainstream media, a sense of sorrow and disappointment fell upon me as I watched supposed “friends” revealing their true colors and people who claim to be “enemies” in public band together to protect their house of cards. I felt for a moment like I had wasted the last several years investing every ounce of my being into a complete and total fraud. But through this revelation, I’m realizing the true seekers of truth are few and far between and the dual symbolic nature of the pyramid and all seeing eye.

The negative symbolism of the pyramid is “the few controlling the many”. The positive symbolism is, however, the layers of the pyramid with the capstone consisting of the purest forms of energy and truth. The higher you get up the pyramid, the more isolated you become, simply because you realize there are few and fewer like-minded people. And of course, like crabs in a bucket, when you move to another level, your “friends”, family, peers and others around you will always be there to try to pull you back down into the box.

Just because we’ve escaped one box and jumped from the mainstream media into the alternative media, it doesn’t mean we are not trapped in a whole other box. We’ve talked about the prisons of Christianity, Islam and Judaism but alternative media, particularly “patriot radio”, is extremely Christian-based and points the evils of the worlds towards “satanism”. Why would we believe this is anything other than another “box”?

Once that layer is peeled off, we find the non-religious-based alternative media but they still propagate the same stories as the mainstream media: Pandemic scares, propaganda that Gaddhafi or Al-Assad are “killing their own people” and “Iran has weapons of mass destruction”. I remember when we first called out the mainstream media for faking news articles, most of our peers didn’t want anything to do with it and kept on repeating the idea that this was  anything less than a western-backed coup. Then after a few weeks when the evidence was irrefutable, everyone suddenly changed their tune. Luckily now with Syria, people are wising up and have immediately called this out to be the fraud that it is.

These same media outlets know the elections are a complete and total fraud but still debate on what will happen if Romney gets (s)elected or if Santorum has a chance of beating Obama, effectively feeding into the (d)illusion. While I support Ron Paul, considering the five choices I have, there is no reason to believe the 2012 (s)elections will be any different than the last dozen or so.

And my absolute favorite of course are the ones who attribute all of the problems of the world to one group of people, be it the Joooos, the Jesuits, the monarchy, the republicans, the democrats or any other group of people. I’ve always known this is just another trap but it seems like if you have a microphone and voice, you’d BETTER point all of the problems to one group (otherwise you are a SHILL)! And of course, the people who believe it’s another group are sure to attack you too. The problem I have with this line of thinking is two-fold: First, if you blame it all on the “jooos” you excuse all of the non-jews who are just as guilty and evil. Second, it takes away the responsibility from YOU to change your reality and gives people a sense of hopelessness and lack of control.

Through this “Great Revealing”, I’ve realized that we can never ever change the world, all we can change is our own individual reality. We can expose false flags and government corruption (and maybe even temporarily thwart their attempts, or at least stall their agenda), but we can never stop the “New World Order” as so many call it. Why on earth would we want to stop a “New World Order”? Are we so happy and satisfied with the “Old World Order”? Absolutely not, we need to take control of the NWO and make it our OWN.

The only thing we can do is change the way we live amongst each other on a community level: The way we treat our families, friends, loved ones and peers. The way we interact with one another, support local businesses, refuse to shop at the corporate-controlled megaplexes and develop a sense of morality when we are at our “jobs” and grow a backbone and tell the “bosses”, “No, I will not do that, it’s immoral (and sometimes illegal)”. If we all took that responsibility then the world would change around us because the capstone is held up by the power of the lower levels of the pyramid.

Are you a military man willing to fire upon unarmed people or, if ordered to, preemptively invade a foreign country? Are you a police officer willing to “stop and frisk” normal people or take time out of your life force to pull people over for not wearing a seatbelt or driving a few miles over the speed limit? Why would you collect revenue for the state and go against your purpose of being a police officer, which is the protect and serve? Are you a television producer who has been assigned to create a propaganda piece for the invasion of another country, or for the war on drugs? Are you a CEO who is purchasing goods made by slave labor in order to yield higher profits? Are you a farmer buying seeds from Monsanto? The list goes on and on and on but if we all took the responsibility to say “NO, We are not going to do this anymore”, there would be no one left to move the agenda forward.

So that brings me full circle to Truth Frequency and the direction the universe has set us towards. We had a choice to just go along with the alternative media agenda and be complicit in the cover-up of infiltration and informants. We could have ignored the facts of the matter, kept our mouths shut and everyone would be completely happy with us. We could have fallen into the trap of not talking about certain issues that are effecting the lives of everyone who listens to alternative media and did “what’s best for the show”. But how could we get on air and do anything less than delivering the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, even if it means most of our “friends” would turn their backs on us and some would even start “whispering” behind our backs?

The new standard has been set and the line has been drawn. It’s no longer about unity because we refuse to unite with people who are for anything less than the truth and we simply can’t “go along, to get along”. The truth is far more important than anything else and sadly, the closer you get to the truth, the more isolated you become. We are here to lead by example.

The only question left now is: Are you willing to leave your comfort zone and seek out the truth, no matter where it leads?

Comments Disabled – PLEASE READ!

For the last several hours I’ve been tracking down a bug/malware that some people have been reporting. Well, I think I finally found it despite running about half a dozen different virus and malware scans and coming up with absolutely nothing. I went through every piece of code manually and finally found the culprit so this has been removed. Funny though, my anti-virus hasn’t gone off and the bug only loaded for a handful of people. It wasn’t a serious threat, just some advertising bug redirecting traffic from here to other sites, but still, that’s unacceptable.

Somehow spammers were getting around the moderation setting and embedding their comments onto the website automatically. I found it odd that I’d find about 20 spam messages per hour but frankly, I’m not surprised as we’ve been under some heavy attack lately. It’s not just us though, Freeman’s site was hacked and had to be rebuilt and many other sites in our genre of alternative media have had constant problems.

I see the method behind this madness, try to wear us down by giving us as much BS to deal as possible. Most shows and websites (who get a heavy amount of traffic like we do), have a team of people who work together to keep everything running. However, in my experience, especially with my day job/business, I’ve found that nobody does the job with as much passion, pride and care as I do and working with people usually ends up with me going back and fixing a bunch of their mistakes.

We were attacked by cointelpro about a year ago, that didn’t work. We’ve had a huge problem with trolls, hate-mail and other forms of harassment, that didn’t work. So now they’re trying to figure out how to make it so difficult for us that we just walk away and quit!

A lot of people don’t realize but I have a day job (personal business) so my time with Truth Frequency is limited.  Because of the great members and the great sponsors, the website is pretty much paying for itself now, which is great because I’m not making the same kind of money I was making when I did my day job full time and Truth Frequency part time instead of the other way around like it is now. I wouldn’t mind sitting here full time and writing articles for Truth Frequency News or spending more time tracking down guest contacts and putting more shows together or working on the Truth Frequency Radio Network to launch it quicker for you guys, etc. etc. But right now we all have to do what we have to do!

Anyway, they know this so they are doing their best to put so much pressure on us that we walk away (whoever this diabolical “they” is). But let me tell you (or them rather), this only motivates us to move forward. If I have to, I’ll hire a full time web guy and the universe will provide a way to pay him.

Google tries to shut down Truth Frequency Radio and Truth Frequency News

I suppose we could have traveled back in time to 2005, registered http://onlinealley.com/seotools/googlebannedchecker/, came back to 2012, banned our own domain, then we hacked our own server, moved our website to another sever, rebuilt the missing parts and locked ourselves out of truthfrequencynews.com so we can’t even update it without rebuilding the database manually. And we did this because we have nothing better to do and I just absolutely LOVE staring at code for hours and hours at a time!! Anything is possible right?*******

Truth Frequency was born on November 5th 2009 (remember, remember the 5th of November) and conceived by Chris & Sheree Geo. Our story began on blogtalk after which we worked our way up to taking the internet by storm! I credit this to the twin flame energy and a total abandonment of materialism in exchange for a spiritual journey many might see as foolish. Why give up a great life style and the ability to give the person I love anything in the world and pursue a thankless path of ridicule, stress, self sacrifice and hate? And by raising our heads above the crowd in effect painting ourselves as targets for all of the trolls, haters, cointelpro ops and ultimately the New World Order? Why? I’ll tell you why. Because of each and every one of you who tune in every single week to listen to what we have to say! For the love that you guys send to counter act the negative and ultimate to fulfill our destiny of saving the universe in this time of chaos and self destruction. The universe of course being the universe inside of us and the universe inside of those who’s lives we affect.

Shortly after we began to rise we noticed forces claiming to work with us were actually suppressing and working against us. They sent in low level cointelpro agents and while effective for a moment, could not maintain the infiltration and by following the cointelpro manually to the letter, sought to destroy us. But we are and always have been guided by higher forces who ensure our work, no matter how significant or insignificant it may be in the end and on the broadest scale of the mighty plan. The forces have placed a hand of protection around us allowing us to laugh in the face of ridicule, lies, ad hominem attacks and keeping us focused on our goal.

It was just a few months ago that Truth Frequency News was being sourced by CNN and other mainstream media outlets, the websites were on a trajectory to rival some of the biggest in alternative media and even mainstream propaganda outlets. We were the first to expose the Libya hoax and the blatant story telling by the mainstream media. We exposed Reuters for creating fake news stories to incite hate against Col. Gahdaffi. We exposed the mainstream media propaganda in the face of ridicule by our very own peers until they caught up and realized we were right all long. We laughed in the face of the NDDA and while everyone ran around in a panic, we were the voice which reminded everyone that tyranny can never be legalized. Shortly after, many heard the voice, were reminded of who we are and where we came from, and echoed our words.

We sat back and watched as the count on our youtube videos sat frozen for weeks on end, months on end, with new comments every day, yet the view counter never moved. We rejoiced when we found our interviews uploaded by other youtubers with upwards of half a million views, while we sat steadily at less than 10,000. We laughed when our websites were pulled for absolutely no apparent reason, claiming we used “too much bandwidth” and we held steadfast in our resolve. We spent upwards of 80 combined hours piecing the shattered pieces back together while at the same time never ever ever missing a show.

In fact, these are the things which motivate us. If we’re not being attacked, we’re doing something wrong.

So I have one question for Google who is working side by side with the NSA. What the hell makes you think something like this is going to stop us from completing our work? Do you not understand the forces you are up against? You are not up against Chris & Sheree Geo, we are merely the conduit from which this energy flows, we are merely the vessels which carry this information to the masses. You are up against the creating force of the universe, all which is good and all which is love. And you know what? This old cliche says it best. Love conquers all.

Recently I’ve been working on getting my business up and running again in order to build even GREATER things. For the past week I’ve been struggling with companies who’ve promised advertising who don’t deliver. I’ve been struggling with getting my business website listed and indexed in the local directories. All of my efforts have been futile thus far, all of my work has been for nothing. If I said I was being targeted yesterday, I would have thought I was a paranoid conspiracy theorist much quicker than you would. But today, when I found out not only my business websites are blacklisted, but truthfrequencyradio.com and truthfrequencynews.com, which are 100% completely and totally separated from each other, even by name, well, what else am I to believe? The absolute only connecting factor between the two are the IP address I use to work on both. The only entity in this world that has access to that information (besides those who it is being shared with) is Google/NSA.

Why would they target us? My guess would be this. We are one of the wild cards in the deck. Our mouths are becoming bigger and bigger by the week, more and more information is pouring in, we’re awakening more and more people to the house of cards which is “all” systems, and most importantly we are not and will never be controlled. They have no say in what we say, what we do and what message we bring to our audience. Everything we speak about comes directly and unfiltered from the heart.

Once again I laugh at their petty attempts! I laugh because I know that I am endowed by my creator with certain unalienable rights and one of those rights is the right to speak the truth to the masses. I laugh because I understand many of us have CHOSEN to come to this wretched plane of existence after being so close and connected to the source and our purpose here is to radiate positive energy and help this world shift into the next dimension and act as a beacon for the few who want to come along.

So I ask you again, what the hell makes you think we will ever stop? Have you not seen from the last two years that every time we are attacked we just continue to grow even more? What makes you think this time is any different?

Out Of Body Experience – University Survey

This fascinating experience is something that the field of psychology has yet to give the research depth that it deserves, even though it has been found that 10% of people worldwide have had at least one OBE in their lifetime whether they consciously remember it or not!

The study I am undertaking is the first in a series to look deeper into the nature of OBEs and psychological factors.

All right guys, enough with the e-mails! I love and miss Sheree too and I agree with everyone about Christie. I was trying to keep her personal business off of the internet but I might as well put a little bit out there because I know EVERYONE is worried.

Sheree is having some health problems right now that required her to go back home to reptile land, aka Tyler, TX to be (not so) cared for by her fundamentalist Christian family. I have no control over this situation and I would LOVE to have Sheree come back but I can’t have her doing the show in constant physical pain like she had been for the last few months leading up to her leaving. She loves you guys and we all love and miss her. Hell, she’s my twin flame! It damn near kills me to be away from her but she needs to heal and try to get better. Part of the agreement with her parents is she has to go to church, she can’t do the show because it’s “occult” and “esoteric” and she can’t talk to ME (because after all, higher consciousness is of the devil <ugh>)

As for Christie, I completely agree that her voice and ideas do not compliment the show.  On the brighter side, Christie has some great insight and raises a lot of great questions. So she really has her moments but yes, I totally agree she’s not a good fit.

From now on the show will be Truth Frequency w/ Chris Geo and I’ll bring on different co-hosts. At least, until Sheree gets back. You are right, the show is Chris & Sheree but unfortunately Sheree simply can’t do it.  Thank you to Luckee and Sofie by the way. Sofie will be joining us regularly.

Love you guys. One thing is for sure, no matter what, the show WILL go on. So keep tuning in and don’t forget our new showtime will be Saturdays 10pm central. (I keep saying “we”, “our” and “us” hahaha. Can’t seem to let it just set in that it’s just me now.

UPDATE: November 6th, 2010 – We celebrated our 1 year anniversary yesterday together and while Sheree is still in a lot of pain, she may be rejoining us as the co-host in the next week or so. Apparently, she’s been explaining to her fundamentalist Christian family that she has to follow her dharma, she needs their support but she needs to follow her dharma even more. Through the grace of God, they are actually starting to UNDERSTAND and she may be able to get the family support for her health and still do the show and be with her twin flame. Miracles do happen!!  All of your prayers and positive energy is really making a difference!! We love you guys!!

How  To Start Your Own Radio Show

It seems as though we are asked daily for two things: a list of songs we play on our show and the question of “How does one start his/her own radio show?”. I will post another article about the first, but right now I’d like to talk about the second. I’m going to begin from the simplest and cheapest way to get online and broadcasting, to more elaborate set-ups.

BROADCAST RIGHT NOW

The quickest and simplest way to begin broadcasting is Blogtalk Radio or Talkshoe. These are both very good networks that allow you to play music, take callers, bring on guests, have a built in chat room and automatically record your shows.

Personal note: Big shout to Ghosts Of The Republic – the first show to ever interview me and show me how easy it is to begin broadcasting.

With Talkshoe and Blogtalk, you can use something as simple as a telephone and begin broadcasting TONIGHT! However you will be faced with the problem of the host sounding like he’s on a telephone, same as the guest. If your content is good enough, people will listen! But if you want a more professional sound, the host should always sound full.

USING SKYPE

To accomplish this, the cheapest option is to use Skype. Skype to Skype calls are free and you can get a national calling package that allows you to call within the US and Canada for $2.95 per month. The world calling plan is $14.95 per month which allows you to call internationally. So it is fairly affordable.

The cheapest way to use Skype is to use an analog or USB headset. You can find a good analog headset on Ebay for roughly $6-$10. We sent a $6 analog headset over to a guest and he sounded GREAT!! That is another key, if you can get the guest and host on Skype with good microphones or headsets, it will sound like they are live in the studio. For reference, see our David Icke interview at http://truthfrequencyradio.com. David was on Skype and sounded absolutely FANTASTIC!

Be careful with Skype headsets though, more expensive isn’t necessarily better. Some sound very thin, some sound very FULL. I don’t remember which headset I sent over to that particular guest but it was a $6.00 analog headset from Ebay (shipping included). Sheree bought a $40 headset from Best Buy for doing the show remotely and we wound up returning it.

It is important to tweak Skype for broadcasting, especially if you are using a router. A rule of thumb is to never use a wireless connection, not even in home wireless connections. A good video for tweaking Skype can be found here.

Analog Dynamic Microphones

The next level would be to go full analog with a mixer. The cheapest microphone I would recommend is the Shure SM58. It is important to learn the difference between a dynamic and condenser microphone. The SM58 is a dynamic mic. However, for $20 more, the Shure Beta SM58 sounds much better.

If you will notice our first broadcasts, we were both using the Beta dynamic microphones. For my taste, female voices sound GREAT on these mics but male voices, myself to be exact, sounded TERRIBLE and nasally. I’ve been told I’m over critical of myself, but when I got the bright idea (thank you James Corbett) to pull my condenser mic out of my vocal booth and into the broadcasting studio, my voice sounded FULL again.

Another good dynamic microphone is the Shure SM7B. Michael Jackson used this mic to record his Thriller album (even though recording standards are to use a condenser microphone).

NOTE: One of the biggest differences between Dynamic and Condenser/Ribbon mics is “proximity effect”. This is how the microphone reacts to the distance away from your mouth. Dynamic mics are meant to be used an inch or two away from your mouth and exaggerate the bass, the closer you get to the mic. Condenser mics are meant to be used 6-12 inches away from your mouth (or more). That’s why you see Alex Jones, or Glen Beck, or David Letterman etc. with their mic right on the table instead of in front of their mouths. Google – “proximity effects in microphones” for more info.

Analog Condenser and Ribbon Microphones

I don’t have too much experience with ribbon mics, so I can’t speak too much about those. But I can tell you, what Condensers and Ribbon Mics both have in common is they require PHANTOM POWER. Phantom power is external power to boost the level of the microphone. Dynamic microphones do NOT use phantom power and can be plugged directly into any sound card. Condenser and ribbon mics will require either a preamp or a mixer with phantom power.

Alex Jones, Glenn Beck and James Corbett (and myself) use condenser microphones. Glenn Beck uses one by a company called BLUE. Alex Jones uses a Nueman which is also another high end brand of microphones in the same price range (approx $1000-$10,000, depending on the model). James Corbett uses an Audiotechnica AT2020 which is a condenser mic that sounds really good, especially for it’s $100 price tag.

PREAMP

A condenser mic is only as good as it’s preamp. Higher end pre-amps will have a compressor, which is a unit that will compress the signal, making the voice sound even in dynamic range. A noise gate is also VERY helpful as condenser and ribbon mics will pick up typing from keyboards and even keys jingling in your pocket.

The Aphex 230 Voice Master has it ALL and is the standard for voice-overs and broadcasting. It has a noise gate, a compressor, a de-esser and, my favorite, the big bottom and aural exciter.

Here is a breakdown of the elements in this particular preamp. These elements can be in “all in one units” or purchased as individual pieces, but they are all used to make the condenser mic sound as great as possible.

Tube preamp – if you are going to use a high end mic, you need a high end TUBE preamp. No digital preamps.

Compressor – Because of the sensitivity of the microphone, a compressor is needed to squash sounds that are too loud and raise sounds that are too low.

Noise Gate – Again, condenser microphones are VERY sensitive and can pick up keys jingling in your pockets, typing on keyboards, creaking in chairs and even the slightest noise. The noise gate acts like a “gate” and only allows sound to pass through at a certain level.

De-esser.- When you add a compressor to a condenser microphone, it will naturally compress the sssss and eeessss in your voice. This is called sibilance and is an annoyance in both recording and broadcasting. A De-esser will lower only the frequencies in the sibilance.

Big Bottom – Not a requirement, but a nice addition. This is how George Noory and other great radio hosts get that really full voice, especially in the lower range.

Parametric EQ- Equalizer, just like in your car with a slightly difference response. The EQ in your car is called a graphic EQ. But it takes out or adds certain frequencies to your voice to make it more pleasant.

Aural Exciter – Not a requirement, but it gives your voice a more crisp sound.

A low cost tube preamp would be the Presonus Tubepre for about $100. It does not come with a compressor or noise gate but it’s still a nice tube pre on a budget.

USING A MIXER

Using a mixer will allow you to do many things including controlling levels, connecting computers, mp3 players or any other sound source along with your microphones. Some mixers will have built in microphone preamps and some will even have phantom power. While these will never sound as good as separate unit preamps, some sound VERY good. There are two mixers I would recommend.

For about $125 you can get a Behringer 1204USB. Behringer is the lower end brand of studio equipment but they do a good job for the money. This mixer tries to emulate the Mackie ProFX 12. Mackie is the industry standard but I’ve seen Alex Jones using a Behringer in the background, if that tells you anything. I use the Mackie ProFX and plug Sheree’s Shure Beta directly into the preamp and it sounds WARM and FULL for females. While I would NEVER record vocals with this microphone/preamp combination, for broadcasting it sounds GREAT (for her). Much fuller than the Behringer mixer, which is at the moment, collecting dust.

The Mackie ProFX is a bit more expensive but for an audiophile like myself, it sounds FANTASTIC! Either way, it plugs directly into the computer through USB ; So, you can set your computer sound to your on-board sound card, run that into one of your mixer channels, and use the USB to broadcast out with. Boom, you now have control over any sound coming out of your computer, going into your mixer and being broadcasted out of the USB.

CABLES

The saying, “you are only as strong as your weakest link” is so true in any type of audio or video application. The most overlooked part of any studio is the cables. Make sure you buy new cables for your mixer and microphones. Don’t try to splice cables and try to stay away from adapters if possible. A bad cable can cause hums, static and other noise and you’ll go crazy trying to figure out how to get rid of it.

There are two types of cables I would recommend. The most affordable cables are made by a company called Hosa and range about $5-$10 per cable. But if you really want to go professional, then go with cables by a company called Mogami which are gold tipped and MUCH higher quality. The noise floor is not detectable to the human ear with these cables. But they come at a huge cost – about $50 per cable, even for a 3 ft. quarter inch to quarter inch. Oddly enough, a 50ft. xlr microphone cable by the same company costs about the same too. Hmmm…..

Note: Another thing to mention is a phenomenon called a “ground loop”. This is where the ground of one device creates noise in your system due to your mixer/computer/etc. being plugged into the same circuit. A quick fix for this is to either use adapters that remove the ground pin on the ac plug (but you’ll raise your chance of getting electric shocks) or use something like the GemSound Sp-8500 for about $20. There are more expensive power conditioners but luckily, I don’t have any problems with ground loops.

HEADPHONES

It is important to note you NEVER want to use speakers when broadcasting (or recording). Your mics will pick up whatever you are playing and cause either phasing or feedback. A good pair of headphones for a moderate price would be the Sony MDR-7506′s. They run about $100 and they are the industry standard. Alex Jones uses them, mobile camera crews use them and you can see them in any shot in a documentary or film where the microphone guy is visible. They are crisp, clear and most importantly RUGGED!!!

If you want to use multiple headphones for several different people then I would recommend the Presonus HP4. It’s about $100 and will turn the headphone jack on your mixer into 4 different jacks with individual volume controls. I like mine LOUD! Sheree likes hers soft. So it works out great.

COUGH SWITCH

A cough switch is a button that you can press to temporarily mute the microphone in case you have to cough or make a noise. It’s not really needed if you are running the board yourself. A noise gate really isn’t needed either because you can just mute and unmute yourself on the mixer channel. It does the same thing really. Sheree does not run the board so she uses a Cough Drop. But because Sheree doesn’t have a noise gate, I modified the cough drop to work the opposite of what it is supposed to. Instead of temporarily muting the mic, I replaced the switch with an ON/OFF switch so she can mute and unmute herself when she wants to talk. This does two things. #1, keeps her mic muted when I’m talking so both mics are not picking up my voice. And #2, lets her type and do other things without the mic picking it up on air. Like I said before, my microphone has a noise gate, so things that are not intended to come through the mic (usually) don’t.

BROADCASTING OUT

We use WINAMP and the shoutcast DSP to broadcast out to our shoutcast server. In theory, we could run the show 100% from our end into our shoutcast server and have our own stream. Technically we do have our own stream but p American Freedom Radio and Polygraph radio are the only listeners. They distribute the stream through their shoutcast servers out to the listeners. The point is no matter how you stream out, you want your USB Mixer (which is a soundcard in itself) to broadcast everything coming out of the USB main out.

Connecting to a Network

Most networks today will allow you to connect either via Skype or via ISDN and they will have a board operator who will do all of the work for you, have all of the equipment, get your guests on the phone and even have a caller room. So in theory, if you have a good blogtalk or talkshoe show, you know the right people to get on a network, you sound GOOD with a good skype headset or analog mic/mixer set up, you can get on a network!!! !

Connecting to your guests and taking calls

This one troubled me for MONTHS! I bought a telephone hybrid for $500 that connects your telephone to the mixer but I wound up taking it back. It’s really old school technology. I find it MUCH easier to use Skype! I like to have control of everything so I use separate computers for the caller line and for the guest line. The Skype guest line is set to the USB MIXER sound card and has a separate volume control on the mixer (USB IN SWITCH).

The caller line also runs on Skype, connecting to a call room that gives us on screen caller info and a mute/unmute button, similar to blogtalk or talkshoes phone system. This is ran on a separate computer also HARD INTERNET WIRED (no wireless, remember!).

Computer limitations

Because you are pushing your CPU resources to the max, it’s VERY important to have a GOOD QUAD CORE CPU with at least 4 GIGS of RAM. Infact, Skype suggests you run nothing but skype, and if you can have your guest on a separate computer, your stream on a separate computer and your caller lines on a separate computer, that would be IDEAL. But I am able to do everything, monitor the chatroom, surf the internet, run youtube clips, run mp3′s use skype for the guests, run Winamp AND run Cubase on one computer. And the other computer is for the caller line.

Recording your shows

There are a few different ways to record your shows. I use Cubase and record before everything is sent out. You can use Audacity (free program) or similar but I find Audacity quite buggy. You can use an external MP3 recorder (preferred) like the 9900-52278-00 M-Audio MicroTrack II connected to your mixer. There is a separate place to hook this up on your mixer so you don’t have to use your outputs. The simplest way is to have a friend (or two or three) record your show using a Winamp or Windows Media stream recorder (FREE). They would basically act like a listener on Winamp or Windows Media Player and just record whatever is broadcasting out to the world on their end. The reason I say two or three friends is because you always want to have a backup.

For recording Skype calls for podcasts that don’t air live, FREE MP3 RECORDER is a GREAT software that will record your voice on one speaker, the other end on the other speaker then you can break it down in something like Cubase (or a free sequencer) and have volume control over the both ends of the conversation. Don’t forget to bounce the tracks to mono so you don’t have one end coming out of the left speaker and right speaker.

WATCH YOUR LEVELS!!!

A lot of audio novices don’t understand the term “headroom”. Imagine a cup of water, headroom is the cup, the water is the audio. If you over flow the cup, you’re going to get a terrible distortion. If you underfill the cup, you are going to be thirsty!! So make sure you watch your levels on your mixing applications.

Sometimes you might hear our broadcasts coming out a little softer than normal and you might have to turn up your headphones or speakers. This is because we are recording at a lower level so get a nice clean recording. After the recoding, you can use software compressors and limiters to raise the volume of the final archive. You can always fix levels that are too low. You CANNOT fix levels that are “clipped” or “overflowing”. Before every broadcast I set my mic level on top of the music level and make sure it’s still well within the headroom. When I subtract the music, the mic doesn’t sound as high. I’m constantly adjusting levels during the broadcasts, especially when the guest has bad mic technique or keeps moving the phone around.

If anyone has figured this one out, please let us know!!! We don’t get paid a dime. In fact, we pay for everything ourselves!! In the meantime, you should not do this to make money. You should do it for FUN, for INFORMATION and for SPRITIUAL GROWTH and ENLIGHTENMENT. It’s a long and hard road, but all of our great listeners make it worth it!!

I hope we’ve been able to enlighten and empower anyone interested in starting a radio show to go out and do it!! Remember, you have to just DO IT! You’re not going to “hit it big” on your first broadcast and your first broadcast is probably going to sound TERRIBLE. So just DO IT and get it over with. Your format will begin to take form after the first few shows and new ideas will come to mind. We started on Blogtalk, on a telephone, moved to Polygraph Radio then moved to American Freedom Radio. So JUST DO IT!!!
