Thanks to @TKrypt_  for alerting folks to this:

After the WSJ posted a feel good about it tech article, some people who understand technology and the surveillance state realized the implications of this ‘free’ WiFi. Most people would find free Wifi as good news, but they are woefully uninformed of the other uses WiFi has in the hands of an ever encroaching, privacy violating State.

MIT Scientists: Now You Can See Through Walls with Wi-Fi

“..wireless signals that, upon hitting a person standing behind a wall, are reflected off various body parts..”

This is not just some conspiracy theory either, read the articles. You will find that this is MIT; you know the Mass. Institute of Technology! Real Stuff here.

Using WiFi to see through walls

The passive radar process is actually quite simple. In any space that has WiFi, you are constantly being bombarded by 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio waves. When these waves hit a moving object, their frequency is altered (the Doppler effect). By carefully “sniffing” the WiFi signals, Woodbridge and Chetty are able to reconstruct an image any objects or humans that are moving on the other side of the wall.

So next time your friendly police dept. has a no knock warrant, but the wrong address, and you are in your home exercising your 2nd Amendment rights, this will not be a pretty outcome. Errant police officers using this technology outside the parameters of law enforcement, for example spying on the ex-wife, or stalking an individual, have a new tool to use. And they will use your WiFi and any other WiFi in the area to do it.

In addition, one must keep in mind that one can be tracked where there is such a vast network installed. From one station to the next, ones gadgets can be traced and all movements recorded, of course for the collective safety. A cop will not need to ask for ID in those areas, if you think about it. Your gadget will have been recorded traversing the area.

If you have ever wondered about all those signals and all the frequencies bouncing around bombarding you, you now know, they will be everywhere.  I will let the reader do their own research and ascertain if there are dangers of WiFi signals, to health for now. The danger I wish to point out today is the danger to our personal security and privacy.
