HELLSTORM w/ MICHAEL THOMAS GOODRICH >>

EPISODE #83

As the global community girds itself for World War III, it’s of critical importance for all of us to remind ourselves of exactly what that entails. Today’s guest on “The Covert Report” is Tom Goodrich, author of “Hellstorm: The Death of Nazi Germany, 1944 to 1947.” Goodrich takes an unflinching look at the ravages inflicted on the brutal Nazis after the Allied Victory. Goodrich is not an apologist for Nazi atrocities elsewhere in Europe. “Hellstorm” strikes me as a manifesto to the Terrible Consequence that befall ordinary civilians who are forced to cope with the follies of their leadership, over which they have no control. On the Eve of World War III, that’s worthy of consideration.
Most of us don’t know that after WWII, General Eisenhower’s death camps killed an additional 1.7 million Germans. It’s a vital testimonial that all of us shall be the victims of this coming World War, for there can be nothing more dangerous than our own propaganda of righteousness, which thrusts our own humanity into the flames.
“God, I hate the Germans…” (Dwight David Eisenhower in a letter to his wife in September, 1944).

One reviewer wrote: “Hellstorm is an excellent, well-written book about the horrors and madness that befell Germany during WW2, especially in the final months. The mass rapes and murders inflicted by the Russians are well-known. Goodrich, however, spends much time and space on the abuses, rapes, looting and murders and many other crimes perpetrated by GI s. In other words, the book is politically incorrect (PI?) but invaluable to anyone who wants to understand what was really happening, especially to ordinary Germans. The book is also notable for its absence of the, now, almost obligatory repetition of holocaust atrocity propaganda. For Goodrich, it seems the GI s were not the “greatest generation” but possibly the “worst.” From page 344: “While Western leaders such as Winston Churchill expressed astonishment at the tragedy they had wrought in eastern Germany, little was said about the deliberate starvation of the rest of the Reich, and utter silence prevailed concerning the Allied torture chambers in Germany and Poland, the on-the-spot massacre of Nazi Party members and SS troops, or the death camps run by Eisenhower.” Goodrich has, at the very least, helped to break the silence.”
